  Iris a n History                   Irisan came the Ibaloi  word "idisan" which means a wood used to grind something to make it fine. Ibaloi houses are made of pine wood and cogon stick roofing or sapssap. The first Ibaloi  family  in Irisan are the Luna, Oseo Palgi, Gabol, and Pucay. Aside from Luna, the other original Ibaloi families of Irisan was he Calatan, a kankanaey from Baguias, who married a sister Luna.                              Titling of lands in Irisan, started in 1922, Igorot claims known as the 211 titles. The land was paid by the settlers the ancestral landowners at P2.00 per square meter. The days past, the number of houses in Irisan increased rapidly. Irisan barangay now has the biggest number of population of all barangays in the city of Baguio.                     ...
